This page shows Public Health Unit Home data from the public data at Ontario Long Term Care Ministry. Data is for a PHU on a specified date. or for all targetted by date
On this page, Health Index is a statistic that attempts to summarize the LTC Home experience. It is computed thus: 1 - ((cases for residents + deaths resident + cases staff) divided by number of beds). A value of 1 means there have been 0 cases or deaths, a value of 0 would mean there have been as many cases and or deaths as beds, and a negative value means the number of cases and deaths exceeds the number of beds. Thus, the index is constrained from 1 (best case) to any value negative (worst cases). In the case where number of beds is not known from the Ministry data, the index is set at 0.
The index could be very low in the case of a low-bed-count intensive care setting in a LTC Ministry home. In such an environment we might see a lot of cases and a lot of death, hence a very low index.
